Washable Jeans

The company is also carrying out a line of articles to try to reuse leather rejects from other processes, which allow us a complete recycling of 100% of the same.

It is washable jeans, an article born from an innovative industrial process and a real revolution of the suede leather, which challenges the well-known by exceeding the limits of use minimizing the environmental impact.

WASHABLE jeans shows up to the world of apparel as the first washable suede with very few limits of application and launches a sustainable challenge to the textile sector since it is a natural material with an inner plastic-free elasticity.

WASHABLE JEANS is one of the most interesting and innovative UPCYCLING projects at an industrial level, with this new article Conceria Stefania tries to give its contribution to the green revolution by reducing consumption and environmental impact.

For Conceria Stefania sustainability is all this: creating value on the territory, saving resources and respecting the environment.

Back to Earth: The skin that goes back to its origin.

All suede items are highly green products, as they allow to eliminate the waste deriving from the trimmings of the processing, becoming a fertilizer for the soil, thus returning to the environment and creating a perfect example of circular economy.

Conceria Stefania S.p.A. has always cared about the environment and for years has been moving towards a system that achieves a production with low environmental impact and that minimizes the consumption of energy and natural resources.

Another fundamental value is the strict respect with the regulations on health and safety at work achieved by adopting a set of behavioral rules, both in internal relations and with third parties, aimed at spreading the set of values and principles, commitments and responsibilities of ethical value.

Our Leathers

It is important to remember that the leathers processed by Conceria Stefania are recycled products of the food industry, no animal is slaughtered for the sole purpose of using the leather.
Fundamental is the welfare of animals during their lives which consequently guarantees a good quality of the leather, in fact the greater the well-being in which the animal lives, the higher the quality of its skin.
It stands out from other products of artificial origin also for the presence of scratches, dots and imperfections that are qualities that demonstrate its genuineness.
Otherwise, if these leathers were not recovered by tanning companies, they should be disposed of as waste with the consequent environmental impact.
Through our processes these products acquire new life

Processi produttivi e impatto ambientale

Conceria Stefania S.p.A. uses sustainable processes for the production of its leathers, choosing them among those that produce a lower impact on the environment.

The chemicals used for the processing are chosen and evaluated on the basis of compliance with the ZDHC MSRL. A company choice was also to eliminate all solvent-based finishing and use only water-based products.

Leather processing takes into account the environment in all respects:

  • Consumption
  • Water discharge
  • Atmospheric discharges
  • Consumption of chemicals to reduce the amounts of solid, liquid and gaseous emissions
  • Minimize the waste of natural resources

Environmental aspects

Regarding process water, Conceria Stefania has equipped itself with a modern biological activated sludge plant that has the task of purifying the water of the production process.

The biological treatment compared to the physical chemical allows to reduce the production of sludge with the same characteristics of the waste to be treated.

The plant is internal to the company and has been further improved during 2020 with the addition of a tertiary treatment section.

The current Efficiency of the wastewater plant is such as to comply with the limit values of emissions in surface water (Legislative Decree 152/6 – Part 3 III – Annex 5 – Table 3).
The water treated by the same purifier is also partly used for some cleaning operations.

Velukid Bio

Conceria Stefania is developing the idea of a biodegradable leather when the product has reached the end of its existence. The particularity in the processing arises in the absence of classic tanning agents such as chromium or other metals and in the use of materials and products that are completely biodegradable in the long term. Continuous research will lead to a material with a very low environmental impact both in the processing phase and in the life of the product itself. Continuous updates will follow both on processing and on the results of laboratory tests.

Velukid Free Metal

Our metal – free suede is a leather made using a particular process by which it is tanned without the use of metals, thus making it completely hypoallegenic. Being metal free, these films are reset, both in the initial phase of creation during the production process, and during processing.

LEATHERUP-bianco

The tannery world is under indictment by animal rights activists and ecologists, who maintain that this sector is harmful to animals and the environment.

What perhaps not everyone knows is that the recycling process carried out by tanneries goes beyond the production of shoes, bags and leather clothing, making the green industries par excellence.

Indeed leather is a sustainable material, based on a circular economy which in turn is based on the principle of the 3 Rs:

  • Reduce waste
  • Reuse assets
  • Recycle waste

It is important to emphasize that leathers are recycled products of the food industry so no animals are slaughtered for the sole purpose of using the skin.

Conceria Stefania has therefore created the LEATHER UP brand with the aim of certifying that the leather used, for the production of leather accessories, comes from livestock raised for food purposes and that therefore the leather without tanning and its upcycling activity would be reduced to a waste of the livestock supply chain that is difficult to dispose of from an environmental and pollution point of view.
